There have been a lot of trials and tribulations surrounding me lately. It seems like the orbit has gone off-kilter somehow. I watch the Discovery Channel shows on how NASA got to the moon in the 60's, and it scares me that so much was left to chance and luck with that, and how many people risked their lives to get our country there because of a goal of JFK's. It's always amazing to hear the astronauts describe re-entry, especially saying that they had such a small re-entry point that if they missed it, they'd skip off our atmosphere and end up in outer space forever.
My world is relatively sane right now, but it feels like a lot of my friends and relatives are dealing with a lot of hard shit. So, in the spirit of this blog, here are my musical wishes for certain people who's lives are a bit wonky right now, in one way or another.
To
Blondage - "Fix You" - Coldplay. B, you've gone through something I will never be able to fathom, but you're absolutely one of the strongest and most amazing people that's ever come into my life. The only thing I can say to you is, eventually, things get better. You take the time you need, though. Trust me.
To
My Partner In Crime - "Sweet Caroline" - Neil Diamond. Sing your damn lungs out on Friday, root our Sox on to victory, and enjoy yourself. My jealousy knows no bounds. Also, I know life has been a bit hinky lately. I say Sunday morning, you get up, put on some Bach, sit back, and enjoy the music and the quietness without chaos. That might ease the mind a bit, but it's just a suggestion.
To my daughter - "Rockferry" - Duffy. Things will be the way you want them to be, trust me on this.
To Lisa - "My December" - Linkin Park. I cannot begin to tell you how proud I am of you. The strength you've shown lately has been amazing, and you are getting there. I believe in you.
I've left a few people out, but if anyone has any dedications they want to make, please put them in comments. We'll get some mp3's up at some point.
